For more than fifty (50) years, Metrocare has provided an array of services available to people with mental and developmental disabilities. In addition to behavioral health services, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, accessible pharmacies, housing and supportive social services. Through the Altshuler Center for Education & Research, we are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County.


    The behavior intervention specialist provides clinical and community-based services for consumers with dual-diagnosis of mental health and developmental disabilities. Works with inter-disciplinary team, as well as families and resources.




    (Other duties may be assigned.)

    • Assist consumer in identifying and articulating his/her requests and needs for services and supports.
    • Negotiate and facilitate the array of services and supports needed to address the person’s goals and desired outcomes as identified.
    • Provide behavioral intervention services in (facility, in-home/community training and support) to assigned caseload.
    • Responsible for ensuring planned services and supports are implemented and appropriately documented.
    • Connect consumer with appropriate services and supports, as needed
    • Document all meetings and notes pertaining to consumer plans
    • Establish Service Plan, along with team.

    • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of individuals, teams and systems.
    • Able to apply working knowledge of MS Office 95/97
    • Record data neatly, coherently, accurately, and objectively.
    • Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies and procedures related to the Agency and all stakeholders
    • Creative service implementation processes designed to meet the needs of people served.\
    • Emergency/Crisis Intervention skills




    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service field required. Master’s Degree in Human Service field preferred. Minimum of one year experience in services for persons with developmental disabilities required. Bilingual preferred. 


    • Basic math skills required for this position. 


    • Ability to apply common sense understanding of Metrocare programs. 


    • None required


    • Must have flexible schedule, including evenings
    • Valid TX Driver’s License, required   


    • In-county travel.
    • None-to-Negligible travel outside of the county.
