    Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health services in Dallas County, serving more than 57,000 adults and children annually. For more than fifty (50) years, Metrocare has provided an array of services available to people with mental and developmental disabilities. In addition to behavioral health services, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, accessible pharmacies, housing and supportive social services. Through the Altshuler Center for Education & Research we are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County.


    The Early Intervention Specialist provides intake, counseling, service coordination and developmental interaction to families referred to ECI. Provides direct services, functions as community liaison and as an interdisciplinary team member. Serves as a consultant to other professional staff as needed.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.) 

    • Provide developmental activities with infants/toddlers in natural environment settings.
    • Responsible for screenings, intake, information and referrals
    • Organizes and conducts assessments and service plans
    • Completes accurate, timely documentation.
    • Provides case work, counseling and case management services
    • Provides information on community resources, family systems and service delivery systems.
    • Maintains charts, benches and training, as required.

    • Self-motivating, professional acumen, problem solving, respect for confidentiality, good communication skills for public speaking and presentation skills.
    • Must be able to speak in front of unfamiliar people and groups of people.
    • Passionate in advocating for and educating for children
    • Must be familiar with State, local, DADs, ECI and Metrocare Services rules and regulations, procedures and policies.
    • Ability to work with Askesis, T-Kids, and Microsoft Office tools
    • Organized and able to meet deadlines and frequent changes in procedures.



    BA/BS in a field commensurate with Early Childhood Intervention required, Master’s preferred
    Must be willing to obtain ECI Fully Qualified status within one year of hire. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.


    Ability to work with reports and numbers.


    Ability to apply common sense understanding of Metrocare programs.


    Experience in Metrocare computer software (PsychConsult, Northstar, T-Kids, Word, etc.)


    None required for this position.


    In-state travel.
    None-to-Negligible travel outside of the county.



    Positions that are “community-based,” in whole or part, require the incumbent to travel between various work-sites within his/her workday/workweek. The incumbent is required to have reliable transportation that can facilitate this requirement. The incumbent is further required to meet the criteria for insurability by the Center’s risk management facilitator; and produce proof of minimal auto liability coverage when applicable. Failure to meet these terms may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment, contract or other status with Metrocare.
