    Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health services in Dallas County, serving more than 57,000 adults and children annually. For more than fifty (50) years, Metrocare has provided an array of services available to people with mental and developmental disabilities. In addition to behavioral health services, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, accessible pharmacies, housing and supportive social services. Through the Altshuler Center for Education & Research we are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County.

     

    The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will provide motor development therapy, education, plans and support to ECI children and families under the clinical supervision of the Occupational Therapist.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)

    • Develops, implements and provides individual motor therapy with infants and toddlers in a variety of inclusive and natural settings.
    • Provides families with consultation and therapy services in the home
    • Supports with assistive technology/adaptive equipment to assist in daily living skills and to promote independence.
    • Is knowledgeable about community resources and service delivery systems.
    • Provides consultation and training for other Interdisciplinary team members to facilitate therapy programs.
    • Receives feedback on assessments and service plans from the Occupational Therapist.
    • Coordinates interdisciplinary services for families.
    • Completes accurate and timely documentation including progress notes, and other required documentation.
    • Works in accordance with ECI philosophy regarding natural environment and teamwork with other ECI practices. This includes working in the homes of families served and other community-settings (i.e. daycares)
    • Complies with ECI of Metrocare and ECI State policies and procedures.
    • Contributes to the growth of the agency through additional activities (i.e. volunteering, outreach, committees, etc.)
    • Attend weekly and other required ECI team meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Self-motivating, professional acumen, supervision skills, problem solving, respect for confidentiality, good communication skills for public speaking and presentation skills.
    • Must be able to speak in front of unfamiliar people and groups of people.
    • Passionate in advocating for and educating for children

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Have completed an accredited OTA program
    • 2 or more years working with infants and/or families (preferred)  

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    • Ability to work with reports and numbers. 

    REASONING ABILITY:

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding of Metrocare programs.  

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    • Experience in Metrocare computer software (PsychConsult, T-Kids, Word, Excel, etc.) 

    CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • Licensed Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Occupational Therapists
