Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health services in Dallas County, serving more than 57,000 adults and children annually. In addition to behavioral health services, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, accessible pharmacies, housing and supportive social services. Through the Altshuler Center for Education & Research we are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County.
The Medical Support Assistant performs routine, delegated clinical and administrative duties within the supervising medical staff member’s scope of practice consistent with the medical assistant’s education, training and experience. The Medical Support Assistant will serve in an integrated behavioral health and primary care clinic which serves either adults or child and adolescents with diagnoses of severe and persistent mental illness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school/GED with 2 or more years experience in medical practice or MH/MR (preferred). Graduate of a formal program in medical assisting accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Transcript should document training in phlebotomy and performance of electrocardiograms.
Certification through The American Association of Medical Assistants or registration through the American Medical Technologists is strongly encouraged and preferred.
Intermediate level on typing, e-mail, MS Excel, and word processing programs.
Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
Must have electronic health record (EHR) experience.
