    Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health services in Dallas County, serving more than 57,000 adults and children annually. For more than fifty (50) years, Metrocare has provided an array of services available to people with mental and developmental disabilities. In addition to behavioral health services, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, accessible pharmacies, housing and supportive social services. Through the Altshuler Center for Education & Research we are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County.


    The licensed individual will function as a primary therapist for patients with first episode of psychosis and as a team leader to a CSC Team. Services may include, but are not limited to, providing individual and group psychotherapy with patients and families, conducting treatment planning, coordinating case review meetings, ensuring team’s success in activities of outreach and identification of potential patients and coordination of clinical care among team members. The licensed individual uses a basic knowledge of diagnostic characteristics, knowledge of symptoms of mental illness and familiarity of psychiatric medications and side effects to provide services in a person-centered, supportive, multidisciplinary, community-based environment.


    • Provides individual and group therapy
    • Co-facilitates group family psycho education using a specific curriculum.
    • Assists in completing intake assessments and diagnostic formulations as needed.
    • Coordinates services within the agency and with other community providers.
    • Assists with the involvement and education of the patient’s family at a level acceptable to the patient.
    • Responds to crisis or potential crisis situations and ensures the appropriate level of care through the coordination of services or the provision of community support services by assisting with on-call services in accordance with agency procedures. Provide crisis intervention. Make home visits, initiate mental illness warrants, work with police and other public servants as a needed to address crisis.
    • Documents services in the automated clinical record keeping system with 24 hours after services have occurred
    • Develop measurable objectives and goals agreed upon by the consumer.
      1. Actively assist in obtaining and modifying goals as needed.
      2. Document attempts to involve consumer, service providers, and caregivers unless opposed by the consumer) in service plan process.
    • Lead weekly CSC team meetings
    • Follow-up assigned consumers who miss a scheduled clinic appointment. Document attempts to contact consumer. Report repeated unsuccessful efforts to contact the treatment team.
    • Follow-up within 24 hours on assigned consumers who access emergency services.
    • If inpatient admission is needed, will assist with admission. Provide continuity of services throughout inpatient stay. Participate actively in discharge planning.
    • May function as a clinical education supervisor and support staff to all social work students within Metrocare.

    Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field. Have taken the exam to become and are licensed as a LPC, LMSW or LCSW



    • Ability to carry out oral and/or written instructions.
    • Ability to operate as a team member, yet able to make positive, individual judgments.
    • Ability to assess needs of consumers and implement a training plan.
    • Ability to maintain a list of resources in the community.
    • Ability to recognize and report side effects of psychoactive medications.
    • Ability to assess a potential crisis situation and ensure the delivery of services at the proper level of care.
    • Ability to call in clinical information for authorization.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with co -workers.
    • Ability to work in a high stress environment, take initiative and be creative.
    • Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle.
    • Ability to successfully use an automated clinical record keeping system.

    COMPUTER SKILLS:                   

    • Intermediate level on MS Excel, Email and word processing programs
    • Ability to utilize Internet for resources.


    • Is licensed in Counseling/Social Work (LPC/LCSW/LMSW)
    • TB Test, CPR, First Aid and PMAB
    • TAC web-based training
