Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health services in Dallas County, serving more than 52,000 adults and children annually. For more than fifty (50) years, Metrocare has provided an array of services available to people with mental and developmental disabilities. In addition to behavioral health services, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, accessible pharmacies, housing and supportive social services. Through the Altshuler Center for Education & Research and our software initiative, XenatiX, we are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County.

 

The maintenance associate performs entry-level maintenance and repair work on facilities and equipment. Work involves tasks in light maintenance and painting of buildings, utility systems, stationary and motorized equipment.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Performs simple maintenance and repair work
  • Performs preparation, painting, finishing, and maintenance of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces
  • Performs simple electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry work
  • Performs simple preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities to ensure proper operation
  • Purchases parts and supplies as needed
  • Keeps and prepares work orders as needed
  • Documents proper usage of time and equipment

  • Self-motivating, able to work independently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of proper techniques to perform simple maintenance and repairs to facilities and equipment
  • Knowledge of proper techniques to prepare, prime, sand, seal, patch, paint, and finish a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces
  • Knowledge of proper use of scaffolding, ladders, and rigging techniques in a manner consistent with current safety standards
  • Skilled in the use of tools and equipment

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have valid Texas driver’s license
  • Bilingual salary differential available

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:     

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Training or experience in the simple maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Training or experience in proper painting and surface preparation techniques

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

  • Basic math skills required.
  • Ability to read tape measure. 

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding of Metrocare programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to talk and hear. The incumbent must be able to carry material (up to 50 pounds) between sites.
