Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health services in Dallas County, serving more than 52,000 adults and children annually. For more than forty-nine (49) years, Metrocare has provided an array of services available to people with mental and developmental disabilities. In addition to behavioral health services, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, accessible pharmacies, housing and supportive social services. Through the Altshuler Center for Education & Research and our software initiative, XenatiX, we are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County.

 

The primary purpose of the Pharmacy Technician is to assist the Pharmacist in all dispensing and organization functions. This is an 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday work schedule.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • All dispensing functions, including upholding and enforcing all State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations.
  • Compounding and preparing ordered pharmaceutical preparations under the supervision of the Pharmacist.
  • Contacting and conferring with Physicians concerning medication orders.
  • Maintain all standards as required by obra 90
  • Maintaining inventory and records for narcotics
  • Maintain a clean, organized pharmacy
  • Uphold all rules and regulations of DMS

  • Precise, self-motivating, professional acumen, problem solving, respect for confidentiality, good communication skills. Must be able to speak in front of unfamiliar people.
  • Alert, observant, dedicated, able to take direction.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician, and continue to be re-certified every 2 years.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be certified by the TSBP. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • General math involved in dispensing medications 

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding of DMS programs.  

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Ability to use Applications such as Facts Pharmacy. 

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certificated Pharmacy Technician.
  • TSBP License 

TRAVEL:

  • In-county travel.
  • None-to-Negligible travel outside of the county.

Positions that are “community-based,” in whole or part, require the incumbent to travel between various worksites within his/her workday/workweek. The incumbent is required to have reliable transportation that can facilitate this requirement. The incumbent is further required to meet the criteria for insurability by the Center’s risk management facilitator; and produce proof of minimal auto liability coverage when applicable.
